That question eventually became Swipe Games, a Cyprus-based business that is well on the way to establishing swipe games as a casino category in its own right. Still in its commercial infancy, the company has rapidly gained traction across the industry since beginning sales late last year.

Instead of asking players to select individual titles from a conventional lobby, Swipe Games takes its cues from the social-media feed. Players enter an endless stream of short videos and have three to five seconds to choose between three possible outcomes. For example, in a football penalty shoot-out game that could mean a goal, miss or a save.

Years later, former Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin convened a sports betting hearing in December 2024, the first federal hearing held on the subject in six years. Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, opened the hearing with an anecdote from March Madness the prior season. On the sidelines of the NCLGS conference, a state representative informed iGB of a spate of menacing threats directed at a football kicker from his state. The kicker, according to the legislator, endured a barrage of threats after missing a field goal in a Football Championship Subdivision game, a lower-tier division in college football.

Jonas projected on Friday (Sept. 18) in his Las Vegas room survey a soft third quarter. Jonas said Q3 rates for Las Vegas Strip casino rooms are “mostly lower,” with MGM Resorts rooms down 9% and Caesars Entertainment down 11%.
